Rev. Samuel Jennings Wilson was elected president pro tem of Washington & Jefferson College on April 20, 1869. He was born in Washington County, Pennsylvania, July 19, 1828. He was graduated from Washington College, Class of 1852, and from the Western Theological Seminary in 1855, and was ordained by the Presbytery of Washington October 20, 1857. He was a professor in the Western Theological Seminary for 25 years. His appointment as president expired August 4, 1869. He died of typhoid fever August 17, 1883, at the age of 56.
